Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro Description

Samsung equips the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro with a 2-way speaker system with a tweeter and woofer each. As with the predecessors, effective ANC is on board, which can let voices through if desired or automatically deactivate when you start speaking. If you use a Samsung Galaxy device, you can also use the 24-bit Hi-fi sound, and the 360-degree audio function is also on board again.

Samsung did not really change the battery capacity. The headphones use a 61 mAh battery and the charging case has 515 more mAh. This allows Samsung to aim for five hours of active music playback with ANC and 8 hours without noise cancellation. In combination with the charging case, 18 hours (with ANC) and 29 hours (without ANC) are achievable. Wireless charging is possible via Qi-certified chargers.

The headphones are protected according to IPX7 and use various sensors to give you a good sound experience. Samsung uses the modern Bluetooth 5.3 standard as wireless standard, which unfortunately only works with the codecs AAC and SBC. Like the predecessor, you can connect several Samsung devices at the same time, but this feature is once again exclusive to Samsung's own devices.

New intelligence with the Galaxy Buds2 Pro

Samsung’s already good ANC gets better because of more accurate and substantial cancellation. It helps the Galaxy Buds2 Pro cancel out tougher background sounds to escape the distractions of the outside world. Improved mics on both earbuds help make this happen, listening for noise around you, and then countering it with a muffling sound to reduce it considerably.

The intelligence extends to the return of a feature called Voice Detect, where the earbuds will automatically turn on Ambient Sound mode once you start talking to better hear your voice and someone else’s. It’s called Intelligent Conversation Mode, and knows to return to audio playback when you stop talking.

Samsung is also pushing more elaborate spatial audio with the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Enhanced 360 audio emulates a surround sound effect right in your ears, with head tracking that follows your movements. Tilt your head and the sound will feel like it’s changed in direction, much like surround sound does.

It’s very easy to pair the Galaxy Buds2 Pro with your device, and it will also recognize other compatible Galaxy devices. That enables Auto Switch, letting you listen to audio on one device, like your phone, and then switch over to a tablet or your Samsung TV just like that.
